When he is not writing books and doing cool guy shit, Doug runs an investment planning firm he’s led for more than 30 years. He and his wife Melissa live on their farm in northeast Ohio where Doug has spent a lifetime raising sheep, running bird dogs, hunting, shooting skeet, long-range rifle, and doing Combative Tactical Firearms Training. 

He works security through Belltower International, holding a Class A license in investigation and security. 

Doug is the found and president of North Coast Peace Officer Training Foundation (NCPOTF.org) a non-profit law enforcement training company, providing training at no cost to the officer or their agency.
